Workshop on Measurement of Corruption in the Arab Countries

The Arab Organization for Democracy had organized in cooperation with the Arab Organization Against Corruption an experts group meeting in Beirut, Lebanon on May 15 and 16, 2009. The experts represented anti-corruption and transparency organizations from Iraq, Egypt, Lebanon, Palestine and Kuwait. The workshop exchanged views on the problems of corruption, its accesses, types and causes in the Arab countries in order to come up with proposals and directives that support anti-corruption and reform efforts in the administrative, financial and political spheres. The workshop also focused on methods of measuring corruption, assessing its prevalence and monitoring it. Experiences of Arab and non-Arab states were reviewed.
