Demands for Activating the Anti-Corruption Commission
Saudi Arabia - Tuesday, March 24, 2009
The non-governmental Saudi Human Rights Society has demanded empowering the Anti-Corruption Commission to assume its role through providing it with human and financial resources. The Society said that government measures allowed certain groups to rapidly accumulate wealth through transforming family companies into share holding companies at high prices. Lenient government measures widened the gap among social strata in a way that contradicts economic justice stipulated by Islamic Law and teaching. The Society also called for improving existing economic legislation.
