National Commission for the Prevention and Combating of Corruption in Comoros joins ACINET

Comoros - Wednesday, December 16, 2015

The “National Commission for the Prevention and Combating of Corruption” (NCPCC) joined the “Arab Anti-Corruption and Integrity Network” (ACINET) on 15 December 2015, becoming the 47th member along with the other ministries and official authorities, raising the number of Arab countries that are represented in ACINET to 18, in addition to two observer members from Brazil and Malaysia and the members of the “Non-Governmental Group” comprising 23 independent organizations from civil society, businesses and academia.

The NCPCC is headed by Mr. Mohamad HALIFA and was established by virtue of Law No. 13-08 of 2011 on transparency of public, economic, financial and social activities. It developed the National Strategy for the Prevention and Combatting Corruption in 2012 and is working on its implementation, noting that Comoros had become a States Party to the UN Convention against Corruption on 11 October 2012, but has not yet ratified the Arab Convention against Corruption.
