National Seminar on Illicit Enrichment

The National Seminar on Illicit Enrichment was held in Tunis, Republic of Tunisia on 6 June 2012 under the high patronage of H.E the President of the Republic of Tunisia. Over 120 participants including ministers, judges, senior officials from oversight authorities, representatives of governmental institutions, academia as well as civil society activists in Tunisia attended, also including regional and international experts and representatives from a number of anti-corruption authorities. The seminar provided a platform for dialogue and discussion on illicit enrichment, the tools needed to combat this phenomenon and related international standards and good practices. A number of key recommendations have been developed from the seminar in order to support the development of a comprehensive strategy in this regard including essential definitions revolving around the issue of illicit enrichment as well as asset declaration and criminalization and others.
