Seminar on the Education Sector: its Governance and its Role in the Promotion of a Culture of Integrity

The Central Authority for Corruption Prevention (ICPC) organized in cooperation with the Ministry of National Education and with the support of UNDP’s Regional Project on Anti-Corruption and Integrity in the Arab Countries (UNDP-ACIAC) a seminar on "the Education Sector: its Governance and its Role in the Promotion of a Culture of Integrity" on Tuesday 18 June 2013 in Rabat. This seminar falls within the framework of Morocco’s efforts to strengthen good governance and prevent and combat corruption in Morocco. More specifically, it aimed to establish a platform to raise awareness and promote dialogue with regards to corruption prevention and the education sector in two areas: (1) how to evaluate and reduce corruption risks in the education sector, and (2) how to promote education as a corruption prevention tool. Participants to the seminar included representatives of relevant official institutions as well as parliamentarians, representatives of civil society and educational staff. The results of this seminar aimed to allow stakeholders to develop and implement various measures reinforcing synergies between national anti-corruption efforts and efforts aimed at improving the performance of the national education sector.
